Steven E. Hitchcock is an attorney practicing in the areas of Developmental Disabilities Planning and Advocacy, with a focus on Public Benefits, Developmental Disabilities Waiver Programs, SSI and Medicaid, Special Needs Trusts, Guardianship and Guardian Advocacy, Elder Law, Long Term Care Planning, Veteran's Benefits law, Estate Planning and Probate and Trust Administration. Mr. Hitchcock is a member of the law firm of Special Needs Lawyers, P.A., in Clearwater, Florida. Mr. Hitchcock received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from Union University in upstate New York, and his Law Degree, Cum Laude, with a Concentration in Elder Law, from Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, Florida. He is a member of the Elder Law, the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law, and Administrative sections of the Florida bar. He serves as Chair of the Ethics Committee of the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar, Chair of the Probate Section of the Clearwater Bar Association and has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Young Lawyers Division of the Clearwater Bar Association. Mr. Hitchcock is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys. Mr. Hitchcock is licensed to practice law in the State of Florida, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and is accredited to practice before the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Mr. Hitchcock serves as Co-Trustee of the Guardian Trusts which assists individuals with disabilities in protecting their assets for use during their lifetimes without disqualifying them for much needed public benefits. Mr. Hitchcock is active in the local community, providing service to those less fortunate members of the community by assisting local charitable organizations in providing pro-bono clinics and workshops. He has also served as Court Appointed Attorney Ad Litem, and Guardian Ad Litem, and has twice been honored with the Clearwater Bar Association Pro-Bono Service Award. Mr. Hitchcock is also a registered Pharmacist licensed in the State of Florida. He has lived in Pinellas County, Florida since 1992, and currently lives in Clearwater.
